Greg Reilly’s Story
Greg Reilly’s Story – Greg and Rebecca have a heart for the homeless and those on the streets who are in search of hope, comfort and strength. We want to let them know that they matter. Everyone matters to the Lord and we want to get the Good News out there, that there is HOPE and COMFORT because God promises that to everyone.
Greg has traveled the world and has seen homelessness at its worst. Seeing the rise in homelessness his own backyard, Greg has always wanted to find a way to help, and also let people who are struggling know that YOU (they) matter.
Greg remembers people coming up to him and asking for money, only to go spend it on alcohol or drugs and not get the help that they needed. “It was a frustrating thing to watch, but I give and it’s up to GOD to take that gift I gave and use it for His will”. Handing out a BYM Bag is like planting seeds. This is a perfect way to show somebody YOU (they) matter and to tell them about the saving Grace of the Lord.
If Greg goes to lunch, he sometimes orders an extra sandwich and water and adds it to a BYM Bag to share with the next person he sees. This is a great way to let them know “BECAUSE YOU MATTER”!
We added to the BYM bag a Bible and tract to show Jesus love for them and the name and address of their local Rescue Mission where they can get additional help, food, and shelter”.
BYM Bags gives Greg the opportunity to plant the seeds for God, then HE will take care of the rest. I Corinthians 3:6 … I planted the seed… But God made it
Don’t think of it as ‘a hand out’ or ‘they only need money’, because it isn’t about the money, it’s about planting seeds. If you plant the seed, God will grow it.
Because You Matter Bags – Helping the Helpless, Heart for the Homeless, and sharing the Love of Jesus – One BYM Bag at a time.
We want to let everyone know they matter to us and especially to Jesus. He died on the cross because they matter. We have the opportunity –every single day–of sowing seeds into the lives of others, such as the homeless on the street, and even to our friends, co-workers, children, grandchildren, and yes, even strangers.
God takes what you plant and adds to it. He leads others to sow further seed or “water” the ground. Little by little, truth gets cultivated in their lives. What greater thing could you do?
